I bought these spoons because I liked the bright colors. They looked fun and like they would capture the interest of my little man, who was just starting on solids. I also purchased the soft-tip Munchkin spoons (that are similar to the Gerber brand) and the Nuk temperature-sensitive spoons. Well, the Nuk and Munchkin spoons never get used because these spoons combine all of the best features of both. First, these spoons have a deep basin like the Nuk spoons. The padded tip spoons are so shallow that you can barely get any food on them. Second, these spoons have a soft tip. The whole basin of the spoon is actually flexible, which makes for a more comfortable eating experience for your baby. Third, the bright colors really do capture the baby's interest so they are more likely to pay attention once they get to that age where they are easily distracted. Finally, they have a longer handle than any other baby spoon I've seen so feeding is easier for the feeder. They are not... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST Spoons for Young Eaters!, June 11, 2009

Pros:
*LONG Handle is easier to grip than other popular brands
*B/C they're molded plastic in one piece, they clean EASY in dishwasher/by hand (Unlike Gerber spoons)!
*Very colorful-perfect for boys or girls
*VERY soft plastic-great for beginner to advanced eaters

Con: The ends of these spoons are heavy, so if you place them in a tall empty jar/bowl, the container will tip more times than not. Just something you've got to remember...

We've bought 3 sets of these so that our little guy has spoons at our home and his grandparents' homes. Everyone had previously purchased other brands of baby spoons (Gerber and Nuk), and remarked about how much easier to use these are! As soon as my son starts to feed himself, with utensils, we might transition to a shorter spoon, but these are perfect for our family at his current stage!
FYI: These can be found WAY cheaper at Target.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent spoons, December 4, 2008

I have tried a lot of spoons out there. I have three children and have bought spoons each time they began to eat solids. The spoons are long enough so that my youngest daughter can grab onto it and I don't lose control of the spoon. This seems to help her while she's trying to coordinate getting the spoon into her own mouth. They are also deep which helps the food stay in the spoon when it's being manipulated and swatted by little hands. And they're bright and colorful. My three year old "picky eater" loves to borrow the "baby spoons" because they're much more interesting than her regular spoons. Whatever it takes to get her to eat.

Munchkin 3 Count Stay Put Suction Bowl

Munchkin 3 Count Stay Put Suction Bowl

Product Description

Even wily little food-flippers can't tip or toss these spill-proof bowls! That's because unlike other suction bowls we've tested, these don't separate from their base. So no matter how hard they try, kids can't tug 'em loose. (When mealtime's over, pull the tab on the base to break the vacuum.) Includes three varied-size bowls with secure, travel-worthy lids. Dishwasher safe. Assorted colors. For ages 6 months and up.The problem with other suction bowls: the bowl and base are two separate pieces. Once kids figure them out, the base stays put, but the bowl goes flying! These feature an integrated, one-piece design that kids can't outsmart. BPA Free Includes three bowls of varying sizes: 4 1/2"L (with handles) x 3 1/2"W x 2"H (holds 3/4 cups) 5 1/2"L (with handles) x 4 1/4"W x 2 1/4"H (holds 1 1/4 cups) 6 1/4"L (with handles x 4 1/2"W x 2 1/2"H (holds 1 3/4 cups)

  • Three convenient sizes for infant and toddler feeding
  • Permanently attached suction bases help prevent spills
  • Top rack dishwasher safe
  • Suction base won't separate from bowl
  • Ideal for babies above 6 months

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful - with the correct expectations, August 10, 2007

I bought these bowls expecting them to end the food-dumping behavior that so many are complaining about. The reviews are correct - they won't help with that. The suction is not strong enough. But what they are good for is helping a child who is learning to self-feed master spoon-related skill without having to worry about the bowl moving around. They're really good when your child is self-feeding cold cereal, applesauce, oatmeal, etc. A smart buy, but will come in handy a little later than you might think.

One more thing - the suction is greatly improved if you lick the bottom of the bowl before you stick it to the table. Unfortunately this lead to a period when my son felt it was customary to lick things before putting them on the table, but this passed quickly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Satisfaction depends on your expectations..., March 3, 2007

This review is from: Munchkin 3 Count Stay Put Suction Bowl (Baby Product)
Years ago with our first son we had a feeding bowl with a removable suction base that was larger in diameter with hole in the center, but it would not stay down for a reasonable amount of time. It was adequate, but I attributed lack of suction to design flaws. Third time around, and much older, I sought the holy grail of suction cup baby bowls. Seeing this in the store, I felt that perhaps a one piece, smaller diameter suction cup (no hole in the center) might stay in place better. I'm beginning to think that no baby bowl set w/suction base will satisfy my high expectations.

I like these bowls because: 1) the lids stay on real well, 2) they are colorful and the perfect size for taking food places 3) When the suction cup first takes hold, it does a good job 4) they wash up nicely, I've even put them in the dishwasher on heated dry.

My baby is now 15 months old, and very strong. But I've noticed the suction cup dishes really only work if you constantly push down... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Agree with other reviewers...bowls don't stay put, March 20, 2007

I got these when my son was 12 months old and already a strong little guy who enjoyed dumping his bowls of food onto his high chair tray. Trying to outsmart him, I purchased these hoping to keep some food in a bowl. Much to my disappointment, they only stick to the formica countertops well. The littlest one doesn't even stick to that. None of them stays on my son's plastic high chair tray for more than a second or two.

On the upside, the lids are secure once shut all the way (which can take a little work), so they make great storage for on-the-go finger foods in the diaper bag...I haven't had one leak yet, and I put things like applesauce in them to test them. Not a total waste of money, now that I found this alternate use. They wash well, without any noticeable breakdown of the plastic, on the top rack of the dishwasher.
